roleplay account for Ulysses from Ulysses 31
(As far as I know, this is an obscure canon. It's older than most RPers and was mainly a European thing. If it's not, let me know.)
Canon Info:
It's basically "The Odyssey IN SPACE!"
When Ulysses leaves the planet of Troy*, Telemachus is kidnapped by Cyclops. While rescuing Telemachus and the other children Cyclops captured, he ends up killing Cyclops. Poseidon gets pissed, and by extension so do the other Greek gods**, so they pull Ulysses' ship The Odyssey into the universe of Olympus.
Ulysses must wander Olympus in search of a way back to Earth while the gods try to foil him at every turn. The gods also put all of Ulysses' crew into suspended animation as part of their curse, so the only help Ulysses has is the ship's AI, two children, and a toy robot.
* Priam is alive and on good terms with Ulysses, and Troy itself seems to be in good shape. So it may be that there was no Trojan War (IN SPACE!) at all, and Ulysses was in Troy for other reasons.
** In the Odyssey, Poseidon is the main god pissed at Odysseus, and Odysseus even has other gods on his side. In Ulysses 31, the entire Greek pantheon is against Ulysses and the main villain is Zeus. This is also why I'm wary of having him interact with other characters from Greek mythology -- Ulysses would consider any friend of the gods as an enemy.
Character Info:
However, Ulysses is not just an AU version of Odysseus*.
In the process of writing this....
Short version:
Keeps a leash on his negative emotions (but not to the point of being completely unemotional/stoic)
Affectionate
Protective (especially of children)
Virtuous
Intelligent but (usually) not underhanded enough to be called "cunning". (For example, Odysseus blinded the Cyclops while he was sleeping, while Ulysses defeats his Cyclops fairly.)
* He is the descendant of Odysseus (or Ulysses, as the canon insists on calling him, but I will call him Odysseus here to make it clear which one I'm talking about), though. They are virtually identical in appearance, and it is easy to mistake one for the other. Even if you know them well, they look like they could be brothers.
This means Ulysses has a bit of divine blood, being descended from Hermes and Aeolus through Odysseus. (Normally I would not bother mentioning this, since Ulysses and Odysseus are 5000 years apart, but since they look virtually identical, they probably have similar genetics (or whatever) too.) It's not enough to give him any special powers/abilities, an increased lifespan, or anything like that, but it is enough to be noticed if your character can detect that kind of thing.
Voice Notes:
(These are for myself, you can ignore these.)
Sentences are short, simple, to the point
Assertive, no hesitation
Slower than average talking speed (unless he has a lot to say in little time)
Vocabulary is advanced but not obtuse or obscure
